Aylmer wiz-team brings touch screen to the streets
Zool Gova has spent five years focusing his talent on bringing smart technology to hotels and downtowns. His company, Hi-RiSE Communications Solutions, has done just that. Launched at Aylmer’s DoubleTree by Hilton hotel on Aylmer Road, the City Guide offers visitors relevant information at the touch of a finger. The screen can be used remotely as well, from the hotel rooms, for example. They have the capacity to find the closest burger joint, hail a cab or check-in for an upcoming flight. The boarding pass is then sent to a smart telephone. During the five-year development phase, the team focused on university security, with screens installed in various campus sections. “We wanted to offer immediate and widespread information for security purposes. The screens gave schools the ability to shut down portions in the case of an emergency, or to tell students to stay put,” explained Mr Gova, president and CEO of Hi-RiSE Communications. “Now we have turned our attention to opening cities to visitors.” The screens, as Mr Gova noted at the October 26 launch, mean that “no one is a stranger in a city with these screens.” He went on to explain that the next generation of screens will be usable outside in Canada, being operational to -40oC.
