Aylmer Soccer Club still kicking

After many weeks of financial analysis, the Aylmer Soccer Club (ASC) has opted to continue offering recreational and competitive programs.

The ASC held an extraordinary general meeting on December 10 to inform its members of the club’s financial difficulties. Between December 10 and 21, the ASC was able to collect $28,000 in “donations, pledges, sponsorships and advanced payments”. The board of directors was aiming for $60,000 by December 21 in order to continue all of its recreational and competitive activities.  Since the goal wasn’t met, the board has decided to cancel its Pôle Soccer program. This program is for elementary school children, preparing them for AA level play.

The board is still looking for money and asks its members to “keep working”. Fundraising is also done through www.gofundme.com/SoutenirleCSAAylmer.

“In 2017-2018, the club had a shortfall of $93,000 which was largely covered by our reserves,” André Thivierge, ex-member of the club’s board of directors, told the Bulletin.

The club has an external accounting firm managing its finances, and notes that the shortfall is partially due to the fact that it didn’t have all financial figures ahead of time. 

Given the success of fundraising in the next few months, the ASC will make more decisions during the 2019 winter. (Transl: CB)
