Aylmer Scouts collecting bottles
The 1st Aylmer Cubs, part of Aylmer Scouts, is planning a bottle drive, October 27 (10am-3pm), to help fund their camping trips and other activities. Their objective is a minimum of one thousand dollars.
The bottle drive will be held in the M&M Parking Lot, 200 rue Principale; residents can bring bottles and cans, or text your address to the group at 613-240-3763 for a pick-up. Cubs will also go door-to-door in some Aylmer neighbourhoods, so residents are asked to leave bottles on their porches. And volunteers are welcome.
The Aylmer Scouts are launching celebrations of their 100th anniversary this month, starting with a souvenir book covering memories through the years. This book project is an initiative of several scouts now in their last year. A call for submissions is out -- photos, stories and memories covering those years are needed.
First Aylmer Cubs is Aylmer’s only anglophone scout group, sharing the territory with a French-speaking group. The English scouts are planning a celebratory dinner this winter, with dates to be announced.
