Aylmer Schools get $1.5 million for building upkeep
South Hull Elementary School was the scene of a funding announcement, May 6. All five Outaouais MNAs plus officials from several school boards were on hand.
Of the roughly $13 million invested, spread across all five Outaouais ridings, over $2 million will be invested in André Fortin’s Pontiac riding, which includes Aylmer.
Of the $2 million, $550,000 will go towards refurbishing l’École secondaire Grande-Rivière’s (ESGR) change rooms. This is Aylmer’s biggest investment.
South Hull Elementary school received over $382,000 to replace its heating system.
South Hull’s neighbouring French-language school, Rapides Deschênes, is also getting funds to renovate its buildings.
Thanks to a $100,000 grant, the Commission scolaire des portages-de-l'Outaouais (CSPO) will also replace its heating system -- in the Arc-en-Ciel building – and, thanks to another $125,000 grant, will renovate the washrooms and the change rooms in the Notre Dame building.
Other investments include washroom renovations at l’École du Vieux-Verger ($125,000) and at each of l’École internationale du Village’s buildings. Le Centre l’Arrimage for adults is also receiving $125,000 to renovate the roof.
