Wave of drug busts: nine arrested

Following a multi-week investigation, Gatineau Police (SPVG) made seven seizures in Aylmer, Hull, and Ottawa, April 6. These seizures led to nine arrests and the confiscation of a “substantial quantity of a variety of drugs.”

The busts began in Aylmer around 11:15 am, with a raid on Apartment A at 87 Front Street. Two more seizures followed at 139 Victor-Beaudry and at 196 Europe Boulevard, also in Aylmer. Police then moved to Hull where they raided 6 Radisson, Apartment 402, and 2 Radisson, Apartment 501, as well as 28 Charles-Albanel, Apartment 10. The last action was at 1983 Othello Avenue in Ottawa, carried out with the help of Ottawa Police.

Among the ten types of drugs seized were 147 grams of cocaine, 450 tablets of ecstasy, 1,515 tablets of methamphetamine, 755 grams of marijuana and 56 grams of alprazolam (Xanax). Four vehicles, several cell phones, and nearly $28,000 in cash were also seized.

In all, nine people were apprehended. Two men, aged 22 and 45, as well as a 23-year old woman, remain in custody until their Quebec Court appearance on charges of drug trafficking. Four others, three men, aged 23 to 51, and a woman, aged 32, were released with a promise to appear in court at a later date. They also will face drug trafficking charges. Two other men were released without charge.
