---Aylmer Food Centre reminds seniors theirs doors are open to them
With National Seniors Day, October 1, the Aylmer Food Centre’s Director General Gérard Émond feels grateful to be in a position to help make the older population’s lives a little bit easier every day. Out of the food bank’s 1,520 beneficiaries, Émond said 128 are aged 61 and older.
While the majority of the organization’s customer base are between 35 and 50 years old, Émond highlighted the importance of making seniors feel just as welcome in their establishment and of providing their essential needs.
Beside its typical twice a week food distribution cycle and range of community services, the food bank has made a reputation of assisting local seniors in a variety of ways, notably through its Allégo program, which is dedicated to providing public transportation on Thursday mornings for people with reduced mobility.
