Aylmer came out en masse for Remembrance Day
Branch 033 of the Royal Canadian Legion hosted a large number of members of the cadet corps, scout groups and students, as well as members of the Colour Guard and Hull Regiment as part of its ceremony at the Commemorative Park.
The Ottawa Police Service Pipe Band provided music throughout the ceremony, with a special presentation of songs by Carolle Bertrand during the wreath-laying ceremony.
The guest of honour for the day was 12-year-old Léandre Marsolais who became known in the area for his passion for history and his pursuit of knowledge about the life of his grandfather, Gérard Audet, who was one of 2,000 Canadian soldiers imprisoned by the Germans after the Dieppe raid in August 1942.
The ceremony closed with a special moment of silence for three local veterans who passed away this year.
