Aylmer boy wins international competition
A 6-year-old from Aylmer won an international competition hosted by IKEA. Last year, the Swedish furniture chain invited children from around the world to submit designs for a special soft toys collection. IKEA received over 50,000 drawings, and young Léonard’s smiling sunshine with orange rays made the cut. Léonard Bélanger was one of 10 winners, aged 4 to 9. His family was notified in late January.
The drawings will now go on to become a limited edition soft toy collection, available in IKEA stores worldwide as part of the corporation’s Good Cause Campaign focusing on children’s rights to play and develop. For every toy sold from November 20 to December 24, 2016, the IKEA Foundation will donate $1 to support children’s rights to play and develop in the world.
