Aylmer artist exhibits works at the Bulletin
Gary Martineau, artist known for his line drawings of Aylmer’s heritage buildings, is exhibiting his work at the Bulletin office. Nine works are on display in the reception area of the newspaper office. “I take my time with my drawings,” Martineau told the Bulletin. “I research about the buildings and sometimes add earlier versions of the site, for example, if it had a wrought iron fence, I’ll draw it in even if it is no longer there.” Martineau’s love of historical buildings is not specific to Aylmer, but this natal village is where he is focused. “The one building that should never have been torn down is where the gas station is now beside the catholic cemetery on Aylmer Road,” explained a nostalgic Gary Martineau. The pieces are available for purchase and are framed.
