Anti-pollution hot-line for the Ottawa River

An anti-pollution telephone line (1-888-953-3737) for the Ottawa River has been in operation since 2002. Managed by the Ottawa Riverkeeper organization, this line is available for people to report witnessing dirty water. Citizens can also fill out a declaration form which can be found on the Ottawa Riverkeeper website. All information given to the organization is confidential and people do not have to give their name or address.

Citizen complaints are rather constant since the creation of this phone line. “There are more complaints during the spring and the summer periods since more people are on the Ottawa River at that time,” indicates Meredith Brown, Riverkeeper for the last 15 years.
