Expectant mothers re-routed
Another breakdown of service at the Pontiac Hospital
For the fourth time since September, the Pontiac Hospital has had to announce a service failure, this time in obstetrics.
The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais informed citizens of this interruption of service on October 18 at 8 am, indicating that it could continue until October 21 at 8 am.
This lack of service was caused by a shortage of obstetric nursing staff.
The organization indicated in a press release that, “Women in labour, after being evaluated at the Pontiac Hospital, will be redirected to the Gatineau Hospital. In the event that a woman is showing signs of imminent delivery, there will be qualified personnel to provide care and the mother will then be transferred to the Gatineau hospital.
According to information provided by CISSSO, the hospital has given advance notice of this situation to expectant mothers. (Trans.: BA)
