André Fortin launches 2018 election campaign
With some 200 people supporting André Fortin, he accepted the Quebec Liberal Party nomination for the 2018 provincial election campaign, March 10 in his hometown of Quyon. Fortin, deputy for Pontiac, was uncontested for the nomination bid. Minister of Transport and sitting MNA, he has wide support in the Pontiac riding. Major issues facing the riding in the upcoming mandate include upgrades to Highway 148, emergency preparedness for flood-water zones, rural exodus of people and resources, healthcare crisis with the CISSSO, building an abattoir, and repairing the Félix-Gabriel-Marchand covered bridge in Mansfield.
The election is tentatively scheduled for October 1, 2018.
