Stormwater backups in Wychwood
An intervention plan will be set up in 2020
The results of the analysis commissioned by the City in September 2019 to develop an action plan for storm-water drainage in the Wychwood and other White Zone areas are expected in March 2020.
This was heard on December 3 during the presentation on the 2019-2023 stormwater management and action plan by Jean Audet, Director of the Service des infrastructures de la Ville de Gatineau.
Field surveys for the Wychwood area were 100% complete and stormwater drainage modelling was 40% complete. Inspections of the sanitary and combined sewer pipes revealed few problems with leaks and structural pipes in the area.
The assistance program that will be established following the study of the analysis will aim to make modifications to properties’ stormwater drainage connection systems to address the problems of sewer backups.
The City plans to invest $34.3 million between 2019 and 2024 as part of its stormwater management investment program, with approximately $1.27 million per year invested in ditch work over the next 10 years. (Trans.: BA)
