An artist among us: local author launches book
On Thursday August 26, Clara Lagacé, a local writer, held a book launch at Bouquinart Library and Art Gallery to celebrate her publication by Édition David. Joanne Legault and her daughter Claudia, the owners of Bouquinart, were thrilled to host this event for the local artist. The literary director of Édition David, Marc Pelletier, opened up the event by saying a few words about the publishing house and how happy they were to add Ms Lagacé to their roster of artists. He quoted one of his colleagues, a poetry enthusiast, who said that Clara was confident in her writing and that it was, for her, as natural as breathing itself. MP Greg Fergus was also present. Being a long-time friend of Ms Lagacé’s family, he came to congratulate Clara. Towards the end of the evening, the attendees were treated to a lecture of a few of the poems from the artist’s book En cale sèche. A crowd favourite was ‘qui sourit’. It goes like this:
tu manges un bol d’avoine chaud enroulant ta vie autour d’une tasse de thé
ça grouille dans ta tête
et le monde est agrandi pas ton sourire me voyant arriver dans le cadre de porte
trêve de bile et d’écume journalières
