Activities in Aylmer resume as pandemic regulations lift

As Covid regulations ease and everyone starts slowly returning to normal life, Aylmer community activities are resuming. There was recently the Old Aylmer Sugar Shack event, Secondaire en Spectacle, and Gatineau’s spring sign-up for library activities. Gathering with others and reconnecting with the community is a way for people to get back to normal.
The following are some of the upcoming activities and events that have started again:
Bingo at Aydelu, 94, rue du Patrimoine, has resumed every wednesday night at 6:45 pm, doors open at 6:00 pm. There are limited places and participants must be 18 years or older. There is a new program, canteen service and $3,800 in prizes. For more information individuals can call 819-684-7888 or 819-230-2240.
The Aylmer Legion, located at 59, rue Bancroft, is open Fridays and Saturdays at 3:00 pm and has many upcoming events, including the Sip n Shop Craft Sale on May 1, a Dutch supper to mark the liberation of the Netherlands and the anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic on May 5, and a bingo fundraiser on May 11. There will also be a commemorative dinner to mark the 78th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, June 6.
The Aylmer Legion also hosts a knitting group every Thursday at 1:00 pm. For more information on all the Aylmer Legion activities, individuals can call 819-684-7063.
The City of Gatineau will be releasing the programming for spring physical activities and cultural activities on April 11. The first wave of registration will start April 19 at 6:00 pm and will end April 22 at 4:00 pm. The second registration period will be from April 26 at 9:00 am to April 28th at 11:59 pm. The Aylmer Chevalier de Colomb, located at 78, rue Principale, is open Thursdays and Fridays starting at 12:00 pm. To book the location for an event, residents can call 819-684-5552.
Gatineau sports and leisure facilities are open to the public. This includes aquatic centres, and activities such as badminton, skating and other sports. The full schedules on walk-in activities in the region can be found on the Ville de Gatineau website.
Centre Aquatique Paul-Pelletier, located at 325, ch. Aylmer, is open to the public for swimming. Free swimming is on April 15 and 22 from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm, as well as on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 pm to 4:50 pm. The full swimming schedule can be found on the Ville de Gatineau website.
The two Maisons des Jeunes in Aylmer are also open for youth ages 12 to 17. The Maison des Jeunes Les «Deschênés» located at 26, rue Arthur-Whelan, is open from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the month of April. The Maison des Jeunes du Pic d’Aylmer at 175, rue Front is open Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Fridays, and Saturdays from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Both locations have activities planned for each evening they are open.
