A secular Quebec?
I don't mind Quebec being secular, which is being neutral to religion. I am opposed to the targeted secularism. Someone wearing a religious symbol may identify their religion but it is not promoting their religion.
If we are to remove any mention of religion in Quebec government entities, the crucifix needs not just be moved to a different room in the legislature, it needs to be removed to a museum or church. We also should be renaming streets & towns that are named after Saints.
People may say those names are historical but the history is one of control and oppression by the Catholic Church. Which is exactly what the secularist movement sought to end.
Rue Notre Dame in Ste Agathe Des Monts is promoting religion more than a teacher wearing a hijab in a school in Chelsea.
