A magical weekend for the Aylmer
Mike Clemann, owner of the British Hotel and the British Café, is thrilled with the outcome of Christmas in Old Aylmer, held on the first weekend of December. On top of the traditional parade, event organizers set up the market in the British courtyard this year.
“It was amazing,” said Mylène Denault, who organized the event. “It superseded my expectations! It was truly well organized,” Clemann told the Bulletin. “I always thought we should have hosted it for 10 days, but I think there were some restrictions. Other places, like Switzerland, organize a market for 2 to 3 weeks. It’s a lot of work for only three days. Next year, I hope it will be longer. Regardless, for us at the British it was a perfect storm. We had functions in every room, the café and the pub were both full. The hotel was also all booked.”
According to Mr Clemann, roughly 7,000 people visited his properties during the Christmas in Old Aylmer weekend. In previous years, the market was installed in Aylmer’s Memorial Park.
