A lost treasure:  Dre. Marie Quintal 

I would like to honour Dr Marie Quintal, a dedicated psychiatrist and physician who passed away this spring. Although she was accredited in two provinces, she chose to practice in Aylmer. I can attest, as one of her patients for twenty years, that she provided compassionate, respectful and professional counselling throughout the years. She treated many citizens and was a major resource for those dealing with mental health issues in our community and the Outaouais. She was a wonderful, gifted woman and doctor who cared deeply for her patients and their quality of life. Incredibly, her courageous battle with cancer did not prevent her from treating her patients up to only a few weeks before she left us. I for one am extremely grateful to her, as she played a pivotal role in providing crucial health care, as I struggled with my illness.

She will be and is missed not only as a good person and doctor, but without a doubt, there is now a huge gap in mental health care in our area. My deepest sympathy to her family, friends and patients who were blessed enough to have known such a treasure. Adieu and Merci, Dre. Quintal.
