A citizens’ coalition fights against the new provincial map

Just over two weeks after the first major changes to the special intervention zone map, many Outaouais residents remain extremely dissatisfied with the work done by the Government of Quebec. In response to this new map, the Coalition riveraine des rivières de l’Outaouais (CRRO) officially took shape on July 22. Created to support people affected by the new decree, the non-profit organization seeks to become the credible representative of Outaouais citizens affected by the flood zone plan, as well as the front-line source of information on this subject.

The coalition is seeking to oppose the acceptance of this new map by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, since they consider that significant changes still need to be made. 

Their website allows them to share and catalogue various situations experienced by people unfairly affected by the new map.

The recent amendments recognize a decreased number of affected municipalities; approximately 20% of residences in flood risk areas are no longer on the new map.
