“A bit of sage advice . . .”
St Mark’s Parish celebrates its elders
Aylmer’s Saint Mark’s Church held its annual Elder Appreciation lunch, June 13, in the church hall. In previous years, the event was open to parishioners 80 years of age and older and attracted about 30. This year, the Catholic Women’s Guild (CWG) of Saint Mark’s, under new direction, opened the lunch to all elders, without age limit, and the turnout was close to 120. Food and drink were provided by the CWG. Flowers from private gardens and Beauchamp Funeral Home was presented to the guests.
During the lunch, elders who were asked to share valuable life lessons, offered these bits of sage advice: “one day at a time”, “smile as much as possible, whenever you can”, “humility is the key to life”, “let go of my pride”, and “put one foot in front of the other and keep on going!”
