30 drivers dinged in reserved lane
Gatineau police (SPVG) gave out 32 tickets to drivers using the reserved lane on Taché Boulevard, between Saint-Joseph Boulevard and Montcalm Street, between 7:40 am and 8:45 am on October 20.
The drivers were not respecting the criteria to use that lane. The 2.5 km reserved lane on Taché Boulevard is to be used, at all times, by vehicles with three or more passengers.
The SPVG notes that reserved lanes aim to improve fluidity of traffic, especially during peak hours. “Only buses, taxis and vehicles transporting the number of passengers specified on traffic signs, during hours also indicated on the signs, are authorized to use the lanes,” said the SPVG. Violators can be fined $100, plus fees.
