$12,000 for Euclide-Lanthier’s school yard
The three Aylmer councillors, Josée Lacasse, Mike Duggan and Richard Bégin, gave the Euclide-Lanthier school yard committee $12,000 at the beginning of May. The funds come from their discretionary budgets.
Ultimately, the committee’s goal is to solve a drainage problem in the front lawn.
“In its present state, the turfed area of the Euclide-Lanthier school is like a pool. The middle of the lawn is lower than the outskirts and the water is trapped there and cannot run off as it should,” says Nadine Paquette, civil engineer and volunteer for the school yard committee. The committee wants the work done this summer so that the school yard is ready for the fall. The project cost is estimated at $85,000. The committee has already raised over $65,000. Once the lot is leveled, the committee wants to create a 45 m x 25 m natural soccer field and purchase sports equipment. (LRC/CB)
