$1.5 million for school board cleaning
The Western Quebec School Board (WQSB) approved, in June, a big maintenance contract worth more than $1.435 million with the Gatineau cleaning company, NASCO.
The three-year contract started July 1, 2016, and ends June 30, 2019, with two additional one-year extensions possible.
The contract is to clean three WQSB schools -- Pontiac High in Shawville, D’Arcy McGee High/Symmes Intermediate in Aylmer, and Philemon Wright High/Hadley Intermediate in Hull.
The WQSB received only two bids for the contract initially estimated at between $604,700 and $4.9 million and which initially included both Lord Aylmer Schools and was for five years.
Les services ménagers Roy ltée from Montreal submitted the second bid at over $1.535 million. Both bids were in conformity with requirements.
The board opted for a five-year contract during the May council meeting, but that resolution was rescinded in June before the board approved the new three-year contract. The bids for the five-year contract were $2.424 million from NASCO and $2.585 million from Les services ménagers Roy ltée. Groupe Lems had also obtained the tender documents for the five-year contract but did not submit a bid.
